OAKLEY AND HONG KONG, CHINA TENNIS ASSOCIATION RENEW THEIR PARTNERSHIP AND ANNOUNCE THE “OAKLEY HONG KONG TENNIS STARS OF THE FUTURE 2025” PROGRAMME

(July 6, 2025 – Hong Kong) The “OAKLEY Hong Kong Tennis Stars of the Future – Challenge Day 2025,” organized by the Hong Kong, China Tennis Association (HKCTA), successfully took place on Sunday, June 29, at the HKCTA Tennis Centre in Kowloon Tsai Park. The event welcomed over 300 children aged 5 to 12, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere. Oakley will continue as the title sponsor of the programme, promoting tennis among Hong Kong youth and discovering future stars.

Launched in 1992 with the support of former French Open champion Michael Chang, the “Hong Kong Tennis Stars of the Future” programme uses the ITF Tennis 10s format to provide fun and accessible tennis experiences for children aged 5 to 12, helping them build confidence and fundamental skills. As one of HKCTA’s flagship training initiatives, the programme has consistently nurtured local tennis talent. Last year, it attracted over 1,000 participants. This year, participants will enjoy a focus on skills development with three days of fun “Challenge Day”, and the three-stage training programme will end with 1:1 “competition” games.

Milena Cavicchioli, VP of Marketing, EssilorLuxottica, said: “Oakley has always encouraged young people to actively engage in sports by providing training and competition opportunities. Renewing our title sponsorship of the Hong Kong Tennis Stars of the Future programme reflects our belief in the transformative power of sport and our commitment to an active lifestyle. We hope to continue supporting tennis development in Hong Kong and help HKCTA discover more future stars.”

Mr. Ronny Chow, Councilor of HKCTA, said: “We are honoured to once again partner with Oakley to launch the ‘Hong Kong Tennis Stars of the Future Programme 2025.’ Through this collaboration, we aim to deepen the promotion of tennis across all levels in Hong Kong and make the sport more accessible than ever.  Over the past 33 years, the programme has introduced tennis to more than 10,000 children, igniting their passion for the game and uncovering emerging talent.  With the support of our partners and guests, this year’s Challenge Day is not just a celebration of tennis – it’s a festival of community, youth, and the future.”

In celebration of Oakley’s 50th anniversary, the brand has launched a new product line including the Radar Plate, Cybr Zero, and the 50th Anniversary Ellipse edition — all lightweight and ideal for summer sports. Oakley also offers youth and kids eyewear collections, designed specifically for young facial structures, with options for prescription lenses and photochromic features.

The Oakley Youth Collection is engineered to deliver sharp, clear vision and includes all the patented features of Oakley’s adult frames — offering full protection, durability, and youth-focused style.

This year’s launch ceremony featured four special guests: retired Paralympic sprinter So Wa Wai, pop singer Chantel Yiu, Hong Kong tennis player Tiffany Wu, and local tennis talent Yandy Shek. All four joined the children on court, encouraging them to dream big and enjoy the sport.

Chantel Yiu said: “I’m truly honored to be part of this vibrant event. Seeing so many curious and energetic kids reminds me how important it is to explore new things. I hope every child here finds the courage to try new sports, believe in themselves, and chase their dreams.”

So Wa Wai, who won six Paralympic gold medals for Hong Kong, shared: “Sports helped me grow, dream, and connect with the world. I hope every child finds strength in their journey and never gives up on their dreams.”

Yandy Shek, currently training and competing in the U.S., said: “I started my tennis journey through grassroots programmes like this. It’s touching to see so many kids passionate about tennis. I hope they stay committed and become Hong Kong’s future tennis stars.”

Tiffany Wu, who reached a career-high world ranking of 517, added: “It’s meaningful to return to the court as a guest and witness the kids’ enthusiasm for tennis. It reminds me of my own beginnings. I hope they stay curious, love the sport, and believe in their potential.”

In addition to the launch ceremony, the final Challenge Day event was held, offering children aged 5 to 12 a fun and relaxed introduction to tennis. The venue featured sports game booths, free eye checks, and giveaways for all participants.
