Overview
The National Training Squad – Futures (NTS-Futures) program caters for the best 8, 9, and 10 year old juniors in Hong Kong. The Futures program underpins the NTS 12U program. Players are prepared for both green ball tennis (Novice tournaments) and Junior Series events.
The program has a lower coach player ratio and includes extra fitness training and individual attention for each player. Players are monitored and assessed throughout the year.
Selection
To enrol in the NTS-Futures, players MUST pass an assessment conducted by the HKCTA coaches; assessing technical, tactical and physical components of the player’s game. Formal NTS-Futures Assessment Days will be conducted for players aged 9 to 10. Results and rankings from the Junior Novice Competition will also be taken into consideration.

Selection Criteria
All players must comply with all the following criteria.
- Players are born in 2017 or 2018 or 2019
- Players who have reached Top 40 (among YOB 2017, 2018 & 2019 players) in the Hong Kong National Junior 12 & Under Rankings in May 2026, excluding the current NTSF players
- Comply with HKCTA codes of conduct
- Commit to the minimum number of training days, and tournaments
- Players who do not attend the Assessment Day will not be considered for selection.
- Do not attend if you do not intend to accept a place
Assessment Content
Players will be assessed by HKCTA coaches across technical, tactical and physical components* of the game
* Physical components including:
– Speed, agility and change of direction (performed on tennis court)
– Lower body strength
– Balance, stability and coordination
– Hand-eye coordination and reaction time
Assessment invitation
Assessment invitation will send out by email after the Hong Kong National Junior 12 & Under Rankings of May 2026 is announced.
The HKCTA has absolute right and discretion to amend the above criteria
