Overview

Our Ethos

The primary mission of the HKTA Foundation is to improve the lives and well-being of disadvantaged or needy groups in the community through active engagement in the sport of tennis.

Numerous studies have shown that sports can be more than just a hobby or part of a healthy lifestyle. They have the ability to make a powerful impact on people’s lives by providing them with opportunities to foster skills and nurture a positive mind-set essential for success in today’s society.

Through the provision of access to sports training to the disadvantaged, under resourced and those with special needs, HKTA Foundation seeks to offer opportunities to further the educational and personal development of these groups in a fun and active way.

Since 2016, the HKTA has spearheaded several important community programmes, providing free tennis training throughout Hong Kong to underprivileged children, kids with special education needs, retired seniors, as well as the disabled.

HKTA’s largest programme is the partnership with the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, ‘HKJC Tennis Rocks,’ which allows us to deliver coaching to students in over 50 primary schools in 14 key districts in the city, as well as programmes to teachers, students at special schools and retirees over 55.

Other NGO’s that HKTA work with include the Hong Kong Down Syndrome Association, Heep Hong Society, the Learning Support Service Association (LSSA) and the Hong Kong Society for the Deaf, allowing us to bring sports programmes to individuals with special learning or educational needs, who often lack the same opportunities as mainstream students.

One of our most recent initiatives, a collaboration with the Hong Kong Federation of Handicapped Youth (HKFHY) has brought the first wheelchair tennis programme to Hong Kong and has proven to be a great success.

To date, we have reached over 6000 beneficiaries and this number continues to grow rapidly as more initiatives are launched and existing ones are extended.

The Foundation’s support will extend to scholarships, sponsorship and the creation of new initiatives to serve the community and our goals of enhancing lives through active sporting engagement and developing tennis as a sport for all in Hong Kong.
