Overview

The Hong Kong, China Tennis Association’s (HKCTA) Young Athletes Training Scheme, supported by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, aims to identify promising players under 10.

Through focused training, the scheme enhances their athleticism, tennis skills, and tactical awareness, aiming to develop them for potential selection into HKCTA’s National Squad or Elite Development programmes.

The scheme has a proven track record of nurturing Hong Kong’s tennis talent, with many graduates competing successfully at international levels.

The program focuses on:

  • Athletic Development: Improving coordination, reaction time, and speed for greater agility, anticipation, and racket control on court.
  • Technical Skills: Mastering fundamental strokes like serves, returns, groundstrokes, volleys, and overheads, with an emphasis on directional control, depth, and height.
  • Tactical Application: Developing offensive and defensive strategies for serving, returning, and rallies, enabling players to make smart decisions during matches.
  • Mental Fortitude: Cultivating a positive attitude, emotional control under pressure, sportsmanship, and team spirit during training and competition.
