Top-seeded Rosalyn Chan came from a set down to defeat Cameron Yeung 4-6 6-1 6-1 to capture the G18 title for the third year in a row. She is the first player in over 40 years to three-peat since Hall of Famers Paulette Moreno (1982-84) and Patricia Hy (1978-1980) first achieved the feat back in the late 70s and early 80s. Meanwhile, Richie Choi won the B16 honours to add to the B12 and B14 titles he won back in 2023.

Mr. Kiyotaka Ando, Executive Director, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Nissin Foods Company Limited and Mr. Lam Siu Wai, Vice President of HKCTA, presided over the prize presentation ceremony.

In the G18 final, the two-time defending champion conceded her serve in the seventh game to trail 4-3. After both players held their serves, Cameron Yeung saved a pair of break points before serving out the set 6-4. Rosalyn Chan’s response was immediate, as she broke her opponent twice in a row to start the second set with a 4-0 lead.

Although Yeung managed to recover one of the service breaks, the top seed pounced again by breaking for the set, 6-1. The third set was a carbon copy of the second, as Chan commenced with a double break 4-0 lead before wrapping up her third straight title with a late clinching break 4-6 6-1 6-1.

After winning both B12 and B14 titles in 2023, Richie Choi, who is playing No. 1 singles on this year’s WJT team, beat Jason Fu 7-6(2) 6-4 to capture the B16 honours. In the first set, Choi blew a 40-0 lead and had to save a break point before he held to even at 2-2. Still on serve at 6-5, Choi was forced to save a set point to level again at 6-6. At 2-2 in the ensuing tiebreak, Choi broke away by taking the next five points in a row to snatch a one-set lead.

He rode the momentum and broke Fu right away in the second set to grab a quick-fire 2-0 lead. He could not maintain that advantage, however, as Fu broke back to catch up at 3-3. Then, at 4-4, the top seed let slip a 40-0 lead before he saved his third break point of the match to go ahead 5-4. Sensing the finish line nearing, he stepped it up when it mattered most and broke Fu to 15 to cement a 7-6(2) 6-4 victory.

Qualifier Jacker Cheung, the B16 champion from two years ago, went all the way to the B18 final this time round, but he was upended by No. 4 seed Jack Cooper in the title decider 6-2 4-6 6-2. Up a break 2-1 in the first, Cheung yielded five games in a row to concede the opener 6-2. In the second set, Cheung made the crucial break in the fifth game and maintained that advantage to even at a set apiece 6-4.

In the third, it was Cooper who made the first move by breaking Cheung in the fourth game before he consolidated for a 4-1 lead. Cooper then saved a break point to hold for 5-2 before he sealed the win with a match-clinching break 6-2 4-6 6-2.

In the B14 final, Kayden Lok defeated No. 2 seed Justin Chan 6-4 6-2 to successfully defend his title. Both Lok and Chan are members of the 2025 WJT team that beat Indonesia to win the Asia/Oceania Pre-Qualifying in Bahrain. The boys will next head to this year’s Final Qualifying in Kuching, Malaysia, scheduled for 9-14 April.

Leah Lau, the G10 runner-up in 2023 and G12 finalist last year, did one better this time by beating No. 2 seed Tsang Yue Ying 6-1 6-1 to capture her maiden age group singles title. Lau is the HKSSF All Hong Kong Inter-Primary Schools 2024-2025 Girls A champion.

Yue Sicheng toppled No. 1 seed Ilyssa Pang in the first round, fifth seed Annie Huang in the semis, and then fourth-seeded Janice Chung in the final to capture the G10 crown.

In the opening set of the G16 final, No. 3 seed Charlotte Lam yielded an early break, broke back, but lost serve again to trail 4-1. After she swiftly broke the top seed again to peg the score back to 4-3, Lam was forced to save three break points in a row before she finally held to even at 4-4. Her resurgence continued, as she broke Wong to 15 for a 5-4 lead. Serving for the set, Lam was down break point again at 30-40 but battled back to take the next three points to seal the set 6-4.

In the ensuing set, there were no break point opportunities until the eighth game when Lam, trailing 4-3, somehow overcame three double faults and five break points to hold for 4-4. In the following game, she managed to take Wong’s service game to deuce but could go no further, as the top seed held to go up 5-4.

Lam then double faulted to trail 30-40 and although she was able to save the break point to force deuce, it was Wong who took the opportunity this time and snagged the next two points for the set-clinching break, winning it 6-4.

In the third set, both players exchanged an early break and with the score evenly balanced at 2-2, Wong went on a four-game tear, running away with consecutive love breaks, to win 4-6 6-4 6-2 to capture her maiden age group singles title. Turns out, Wong and Lam are both first-time finalists in singles. Chloe Wong also partnered Sze Hiu Tung to beat No. 2 seed Hebe Leung/Frida Siu 6-1 6-1 to capture the G16 doubles title, adding to the G14 they had won two years ago.

Players to capture both singles and doubles in the same age group were Kimika Fukui and Wong Cheuk Him. Fukui, who beat Ma Ka Hei 6-1 6-2 in the G14 final, teamed up with Ella Wong for the doubles title, defeating No. 1 seed Helena Liu/Ma Ka Hei 6-2 2-6 [10-5].

Wong Cheuk Him defeated No. 2 seed Cameron Prattley 6-3 6-1 to snag the B12 singles title and then partnered Ng Ka Chun to beat No. 2 seed Cameron Prattley/Sebastian Wong 6-3 7-6(4) in the doubles final. Wong, seeded 7th, beat top seed Ng Yat Nam in the quarters and reigning HKSSF All Hong Kong Inter-Primary Schools Boys A champion Chu Lok Tin in the semis.

The number of entries totalled 1,273 this year, up 15.64% compared to the figure of 1,101 from twelve months ago. In all, 1,256 matches were contested at the Nissin Hong Kong National Junior Tennis Championships 2025.
