[19 September 2025, HONG KONG] HKCTA welcomes the Chief Executive’s latest Policy Address to advance sports development in Hong Kong.
The Government has reiterated its commitment to reviewing the role of the Hong Kong Stadium. Should redevelopment take place in the future, it will become a premier venue for hosting a wider range of major sports and cultural events. Leveraging the successful experience of the Kai Tak Sports Park, this initiative will create new opportunities for sports development in the years ahead.
HKCTA has maintained consistent and close collaboration with international sports organizations, and annually hosts major tennis tournaments in Hong Kong, such as the WTA 250 and ATP 250. We also encourage our professional staff to gain international exposure by participating in global tennis events and engaging in knowledge exchange. HKCTA will continue to play an active role in Asian and international sports organizations, with a strong commitment to supporting their efforts to establish a presence in Hong Kong.
“We are truly grateful that the Government continues to advance sports development in the Policy Address. Hong Kong has the potential to become a leading hub for international sports events, and HKCTA is fully committed to supporting the Government’s direction in promoting sports through elite development, mega events, professionalisation, industry growth, and community engagement,” said HKCTA President Michael Cheng.
Looking ahead, we hope tennis and other racket sports—such as the increasingly popular pickleball and padel—not only attract broader public participation but also stimulate growth across related industries.
