Dr. Edward Hardisty

Biography

Dr. Edward Hardisty started his service with the Hong Kong Tennis Association in 1974 when he was the Honorary Secretary for the Umpire Section (the former title of what we now call the Officiating Committee). He became the Chairman of Umpire Section in 1975 and was the Honorary Secretary of Hong Kong Tennis Association from 1975 to 1987. Dr. Hardisty was the referee of all Hong Kong Tennis Association Tournaments including the professional events run by Hong Kong Tennis Patron’s Association 1976-1987. He was Assistant Referee of the tennis event at the Seoul Asian Games in 1986.

Dr. Hardisty became the Executive Director of Hong Kong Tennis Association and the Hong Kong Tennis Foundation in 1991, and served until 1997. He has been an ATP World Tour supervisor since 1990 to the present. He was the Technical Delegate of the East Asian Games in Tennis in 2009, and was the referee of the ATP 250 event in Bangkok (2008 to 2013), ATP 250 Shenzhen (2013 – to date) and Shanghai Masters 1000 (2009 – to date).

Dr. Hardisty also served as a Grand Slam Supervisor for the Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open in
1988; French Open, Wimbledon and US Open in 1989; as well Wimbledon in 2013 and 2014. He was the Davis Cup referee from 1981-1987, 2004-05 and 2007-14.
