Dear Hong Kong Tennis Family

I hope you had a wonderful New Year, and I would like to wish you all the best for 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was honoured to be elected to serve the Hong Kong, China Tennis Association<\/a> and the Hong Kong tennis community as president on 15 December 2023. Much of the focus in the first four weeks has been on the staging of the Bank of China Hong Kong Tennis Open at Victoria Park.

Following this event, our attention turned to the preparation for the first Council meeting, where we set the policy priority for this year. I have further consulted with the Council and stakeholders to form our shared vision and wanted our goals to reflect our collective insight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a lifelong tennis participant who cares deeply about tennis in Hong Kong, I am humbled by this responsibility and have learned much from our passionate community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am committed to continuing this journey of communication and respect for the betterment of Hong Kong tennis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have strived to engaged the community over the last couple of months and it has been gratifying to learn so much from the constituent clubs, players, parents, coaches and international experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I would like to thank Mr Philip Mok for his distinguished service to Hong Kong tennis, our community and also tennis at an international level. Philip will continue to make his mark with the ITF, ATF and SF&OC and we are grateful for his ongoing contributions and counsel from an international perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hong Kong, China Tennis Association made great strides in the last decade and I believe the association is in better shape than ever before with a larger player base, improved results, a broader community program, an established charitable foundation and closer collaboration with member clubs on social initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tennis landscape in Hong Kong is evolving quickly and, from 2024, we will have at least two international professional tennis events on the ATP and WTA calendar. There is also a strong policy focus on sustainability and institutionalisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In alignment with the current Council objectives, our vision statement incorporates a number of key issues, including Institutionalisation, Professionalisation, Promoting our sport in the community, Governance, Elite player development, Lifting the quality of sports training and Mega sports event. The vision statement is attached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I look forward to working with all areas of our tennis family, I thank you for your support and I wish you all the best. Stay tuned for more details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last but not least, we have the Davis Cup showdown this weekend between Hong Kong, China and Zimbabwe on 3 and 4 February at the Victoria Park. I hope you will come out to cheer for Team Hong Kong, China. I hope to see you at Victoria Park Tennis Stadium.
