Saturday, February 6: Hong Kong Davis Cup stalwarts Mark Bailey and Yu Hiu-tung have been honoured by the International Tennis Federation which has bestowed on the pair the Davis Cup Commitment Award.
The Davis Cup Commitment Award is presented by the ITF to players who have shown long-standing dedication to representing their country in this prestigious competition – both Bailey and Yu falling perfectly into this category.
Each Award recipient has had to complete a minimum of 20 home or away ties or 50 ties at any level of the competition over their career.
“The Davis Cup Commitment Award was launched as part of the ITF’s 2013 Centenary Celebrations and two former Hong Kong Davis Cup players Mark Bailey and Yu Hiu-tung have achieved this award,” said ITF representative Giles Robbins.
Bailey first represented Hong Kong in Davis Cup competition in 1982. He played 21 ties and has a singles win-loss record of 17-13 and a doubles record of 12-3.
