Venia Yeung and Claudia Ng secure bronze medal for Hong Kong in National Youth Games

In the team event last week our boys and girls both secured the 4th place in the 1st National Youth Games which is being held in Fujian. However, the breaking news was came from Venia Yeung and Claudia Ng, who secured the one and only medal for Hong Kong, after coming third in the girls doubles event.

Venia and Claudia, seeded 4th in the draw, defeated Hangzhou elites 6-1 7-6(2) in the opening round. Then they had a tough fight with the Fuzhou duo. They recovered from a 5-7 first set deficit to clinch the win by 6-2 6-3 later. Yet the 2nd seed from Chengdu they faced in the semi-final denied them to star at the grand final, as they were defeated by 0-6 4-6.

They later faced Wuhan in the bronze medal match. Venia and Claudia held their nerves and went on to win the match 6-3 6-2. Both Venia and Claudia had win their maiden ITF junior titles earlier this year, while the national youth game medal would definitely boost their confidence to shine even more brightly in the Junior circuit.
