HKJC Tennis Rocks was launched in September 2016 as a three-year programme supported by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust to promote tennis to individuals of all ages and social statuses. As the programme was successful and well-received in the past 3 years, Phase 2 programme extends for 3 years, starting from September 2019.
It consists of four programmes to benefit four targeted social groups: primary school students (Tennis Rocks), students with special educational needs (Special Tennis Rocks), PE teachers (Teach the Teachers Tennis), and retirees & seniors (Senior Tennis Rocks).
**Programme is free-of-charge and offers tennis equipment to participants
- Tennis Rocks
Target to offer free training to 70 primary schools in 14 selected districts each year who are receiving financial assistance from government.
- Teach the Teachers Tennis
Target to primary school PE teachers to attend a 3-day intensive tennis instructor course and arrange tennis coaching and guidance in school lessons.
- Senior Tennis Rocks
Target to offer free training to retirees aged 55-68 in LCSD tennis courts. The aim is that through tennis, they can broaden their social circles, keeping themselves fit and active, and ultimately enhancing their overall quality of life.
- Special Tennis Rocks
Target to offer children with special educational needs, people with Down Syndrome and the hearing-impaired. Developing their interest in tennis and allowing them to gain new skillsets.
Senior Tennis Rocks
Kowloon City District, Yau Tsim Mong District, Tai Po District, Sai Kung District, Tsuen Wan District, Wong Tai Sin District, Sham Shui Po District, Kwai Tsing District, North District, Yuen Long District, Kwun Tong District, Tuen Mun District, Sha Tin District and Eastern District
