The HKTA is extremely appreciative of Country Club's support and its hospitality in providing the courts, as well as meals for the players. The event promises to showcase great match-play, competitive spirit, and camaraderie, staying true to the IC motto of "hands across the net, friendship across the ocean".
The event takes place over three days with all teams playing each other on a round robin basis. Both singles and doubles will be best of three sets, with the final set decided by a 10-point super-tiebreak. In the event that the match is deadlocked at 3-3, a 10-point super-tiebreak of mixed doubles will be played to determine the winner.
The IC 16-and-under Junior Challenge began in 2005 with generous donations from The Compass Group. It is an IC competition, and open to all 40+ ICs. A regional event is played on each of the five continents and the winners of the regional events go through to play the Worldwide Finals the following year.
Later this August, a European IC 16 Junior Challenge will take place, followed by an African IC Junior Challenge in Johannesburg in October, and The IC Rod Laver North American Junior Challenge towards the end of the year.
The IC Junior Challenge Worldwide Finals 2018 was held in Osaka, Japan and won by Team USA. Italy, with all four players ranked in the top 200 of the ITF Junior Rankings, came second, followed by Uruguay in third, Japan fourth, South Africa fifth, and India sixth.
