LONGINES Future Tennis Aces Scholarship
HONG KONG (May 30, 2010) -- To lend support to the ongoing development of tennis among local youths, LONGINES Hong Kong has committed an initial sponsorship of HKD100,000 to establish the LONGINES Future Tennis Aces Scholarship.
Upon completion of the annual Hong Kong Tennis Stars of the Future programme, a number of the young participants who show good talent and positive attributes will have the opportunity to further their tennis training because of this generous scholarship.
Organized by the Hong Kong Tennis Association since 1992, the Tennis Stars of the Future programme has served as an invaluable tool for talent identification at a young age.
Over the years, the programme has brought to the fore homegrown talents the likes of Jack Hui, Lam Po Kuen, and Venise Chan, who have all gone on to represent Hong Kong on the world stage with pride and distinction.
At the latest media event on May 3 to unveil the "LONGINES Future Tennis Aces" message, Mr. Vincent Liang (HKTA Honorary Secretary) was on hand to receive a giant cheque in the amount of HKD100,000 from Miss Karen Au Yeung (Vice President of LONGINES Hong Kong).
Mr. Aaron Kwok (LONGINES Ambassador of Elegance) was also in attendance to present a giant ticket to the LONGINES - HK Selection winner, Abigail Chiu, who will represent the territory at the specially arranged mini-tournament for juniors between the ages of 12-14 at Roland Garros during the final week of this year's French Open.
