Final day of the HK Open Junior Championships 2008 saw No. 4 seed Levente Godry of Hungary (ITF 599) become the sixth player since 1993 to capture both boys' singles and doubles titles simultaneously.  The wins also secured his maiden titles on the ITF World Junior Circuit.

Number three seed Justin To (ITF 425) defeated Chinese Taipei's Hu Hao-Yang, 6-4, 7-6(2), at the HK Open Junior Championships 2008 to set up an eagerly anticipated semifinal face-off with second-seeded South African Jarryd Botha (ITF 398) on Friday.

World junior circuit debutante Katherine Ip extended her Cinderella run by beating No. 5 seed Benyapa Phumtip of Thailand (ITF 608) in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, today at the HK Open Junior Championships 2008 to join compatriot Sher Pui Wing in the girls' singles semifinals.

Local girls Katherine Ip, Wu Ho Ching, Sher Pui Wing, and Lorraine Cheung sent No. 4 seed Jang Yi-Bei, No. 8 Tsao Fang-Chi, No. 6 Vaniya Dangwal, and No. 2 Wang Danni tumbling out of the HK Open Junior Championships 2008 in the second round respectively.

Junior world No. 163 Dino Dell'Orto will be the territory's lone representative at this year's prestigious Osaka Mayor's Cup, the only Grade A event held within the confines of Asia. Dino has been drawn to face the tournament's No. 1 seed, India's Yuki Bhambri (ITF 18), in the opening round.

The ITF Grade 4 Hong Kong Open Junior Championships 2008 begins tomorrow (Monday, Oct 6) at Victoria Park Tennis Courts.  Hong Kong's Justin To (ITF 425) is seeded third in the boys' singles and he will face Chinese Taipei's Mao Jui (ITF 1860) first up in a round two match tomorrow, as both players have received a bye in the opening round.

Sophomore Venise Chan (Washington), who had just been accorded a preseason NCAA ranking of No. 28 last week, is set to face 47th-ranked Nina Munch-Soeggard (TCU) in the opening round of the women's singles qualifying at the 2008 Riviera/ITA All-American Tennis Championships – the season-opening major on the US collegiate circuit.

Hong Kong has been drawn to face the Philippines in an opening round tie of the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas in Asia/Oceania Zone Group II next year, which is being scheduled for the new time slot of March 6-8. The Filipinos were relegated from Group I following a whitewash by Kazakhstan in a Relegation Playoff last weekend in Astana City.

At the US$10,000 ITF Women's Circuit in Kyoto, Japan, No. 1 seed Zhang Ling (WTA 325) and qualifier Jessica Yang (WTA 1078) are headed for a potential quarterfinal showdown after both players powered past their opponents in opening round action earlier on Tuesday.
