RAY KELLY to join the HKTA as Director of Coaching and Development

The HKTA are delighted to announce that Ray Kelly will be joining the HKTA effective from 1st August 2007.

Ray is a well known, dedicated and extremely well respected coach from Australia who has for the past 4 ½ years been working with Hong Kong's Elite players at the Hong Kong Sports Institute.

Ray's great love extends to the development of juniors from the grass roots up to Elite level and he is very excited at the thought he can now start working on programmes for the juniors that he has been watching in action on the courts of Hong Kong during the past 4 ½ years.

TG Coaching Clinic with Thanakorn Srichaphan

Towards the end of last year, Thailand's former top-ranked player, Thanakorn Srichaphan, was in town and conducted a number of clinics for all TG Groups, as well as the junior development squad coaches under the CDC. He has been the head coach of the Srichaphan Tennis Academy for the past ten years.

HKTA Head Coach secures ITF Level 3 coaching credentials

ITF/Olympic Solidarity Regional Level 3 Coaching CourseFormer ATP Top-250 player and current HKTA Head Coach, Benny Lin, was one of only sixteen candidates invited to attend the second ever ITF/Olympic Solidarity Regional Level 3 Coaching Course, which took place from December 5-17 last year at the Rama Garden Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. Organised in conjunction with the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand (LTAT), the head coach's subsequent pass of the demanding fourteen-day course made him the first individual to hold ITF Level 3 coaching credentials from Hong Kong.

Peter Burwash Coaches' Workshop a great hit

Well over 30 privileged local coaches who attended the Peter Burwash Coaches' Workshop, presented by the Coaches Development Committee (CDC) of the HKTA on November 7 at the Aberdeen Marina Club, were fortunate enough to benefit from the knowledge and expertise of renowned tennis guru, Peter Burwash. The workshop also attracted the likes of HKTA President, Mr. Kenneth Tsui; HKTA Honorary Secretary, Mr. Kenneth Ng; and CDC member, Mr. Rob Smith.

Note: Participants are entitled to 4 credit points under the HKTA Coach Licensing Scheme.

President, Executive Director introduces Licensing Scheme to local coaches

In view of safeguarding the interests of the tennis public, classifying the ability levels of qualified coaches, and implementing the continuous professional development program for coaches in the territory, the Hong Kong Tennis Association has held a coaches' meeting on 14 December 2002 to introduce the HKTA Coaches Licensing Scheme.
