As the US Open draws to a close some 8,000 miles away in the Big Apple, Jessica Yang and Venise Chan were attempting to qualify for the maindraw of the US$25,000 ITF Women's Circuit event in Noto, Japan. Earlier today, both players disposed of seeded opposition to move within one victory of a place in the maindraw proper.

Following his victory at the US$12,000 Genworth Financial CVITT(2) earlier this summer in North America, Martin Sayer took his fine form across the Atlantic to compete in several open tournaments in England.
