Hong Kong still a preferred stopover for some

This past week, current Chinese number four Yuan Meng made one of her frequent stopovers in Hong Kong for some training ahead of next week's US$25,000 ITF Women's Circuit event in Taizou, while a 12U team from Guangzhou's Yue Xiu Qu Tennis Association was also in town for a friendly match with a TG 12U Squad.

Korea Asian 14/U Series Tennis Tournament, Yanggu

Players from Hong Kong – Justin To, Kelvin Lam, Vincent Yau, Carmen Lai, and Vivian Lin – took part in the Korea Asian 14/U Series Tennis Tournament in Yanggu over the past couple of weeks.  Top finishers were Kelvin Lam in 13th place overall in the boys' section and Vivian Lin in 15th amongst the girls. HK Open Junior Championships 2007 – Day One

With all seeded players in the boys' singles receiving byes in the opening round, focus turned to the girls' draw where a huge upset took place, as Thai No. 2 seed Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul (ITF 256) was eliminated by USA's Jessica Pegula (ITF 1027) in the first round, 7-5, 7-6(2), on opening day of the ITF Grade 4 Hong Kong Open Jr Championships at Victoria Park.

Justin To returns from ITF Asian 14U European Tour

Justin To & Justine HeninEarlier this summer, Justin To was a member of the ATF/ITF 14U Team that went on a six-week European Tour involving five ETA-sanctioned tournaments spread across France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Other notables that took part in some of these events include Jason Kubler of Australia and Europe's number one, Anton Volkov.

Destination Washington - Venise all set to battle Pac-10's best

Venise ChanSince 1984, only two former HK reps have managed to star on an NCAA Division I women's team – Pat Hy (UCLA) in the mid 80s and Jackie Fu (Yale) in the late 90s. Come September, Venise Chan will add her name to that distinguished list when she joins the University of Washington on a tennis scholarship.

Kevin Kung to join Ivy League champions Columbia this Fall

Kevin Kung Hong Kong's No. 1-ranked Boys' 18U player, Kevin Kung, who took both the HK National Junior and the CRC Open School Boys' titles last year, is headed to the Big Apple this Fall after having made his commitments to Columbia University, the co-defending Ivy League champions.

Brian nets All-American to conclude stellar career

Brian HungHaving attained a season-ending Top-10 doubles ranking, Brian Hung (Michigan) tied John Hui (Pepperdine) as the only players from Hong Kong to have won a Men's Div I All-American in US collegiate tennis. The last time a pair of players from the University of Michigan to achieve this feat were Ed Nagel and former Wimbledon runner-up, MaliVai Washington, in 1988.
