Top-seeded Town/Montesinos wins men's doubles title

In a match that was put forward from Wednesday night, top seeds Andrew Town and Adrian Montesinos defeated the No. 2-seeded tandem of Goran Bosalevski and Jason Lijewski, 6-3, 7-5, to claim the men's doubles title last night at the HK Nationals 2007 at Victoria Park.

HK Nationals 2007 to conclude this weekend at VP

Last Friday night, fourth-seeded Roland Liu and Chattida Thimjapo combined to beat No. 5 seed Nathan Booth and Yang Yi to win the mixed doubles title at the HK National Tennis Championships 2007. Meanwhile, the local triple is still on for top seed Goran Bosalevski, who has already pocketed this season's SCAA and CRC Open titles.

HKTA Tennis Convenors' Tournament 2007

Jointly hosted by the HKTA League Management Committee and the Chinese Recreation Club, the 8th Tennis Convenors' Tournament was held on the final Sunday of this year's CRC Open. A total of 15 club representatives plus a trio of LMC members took to the courts. This year's winning tandem was Yeung Kwong Tin (MSSRC) and Derek Ling (LMC), while Frederick Keung (CCC) and Look Kwong Chou (WONDERLAND) finished in second place. [Photo Gallery]

Second-seeded Jessica Yang (ITF 54) overpowered qualifier, Feng Yi-Di, 6-1, 6-0, to capture the PURE Ladies' Open Singles title at the HK National Tennis Championships 2007 over the weekend at Victoria Park. Meanwhile, 12-year-old Katherine Ip also bagged her first local major when she teamed up with Chattida Thimjapo to beat Jessica Yang and Feng Yi-Di to win the ladies' doubles.

The Hong Kong Tennis Champions Cup 2008 hosted by the Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club, is the successor to the Classic Indoor Doubles and the Tennis Masters Cup held at the club during the past four years. The men's singles and doubles events will continue to be the centerpiece of the annual tennis extravaganza. Besides the continuation of the popular Parent & Child Doubles, a brand new Ladies' Doubles Challenge has also been added to this year's programme.

It's fifth time lucky for No. 3 seed Goran Bosalevski, as he produced his first win in five career outings against Wayne Wong, winning their men's final, 6-4, 6-2, to lift the CRC Open 2007 title on Sunday. Meanwhile, No. 1 seed Tong Ka Po saw off the challenge of 15-year-old Sher Pui Wing, 6-2, 6-3, to win her record-breaking sixth ladies' singles crown.

Thursday evening at the CRC Open 2007 saw No. 1 seed and two-time winner, Wayne Wong, march into his third men's singles final in four years when he defeated fourth seed Andrew Town in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1. Meanwhile in the ladies' singles, 15-year-old Sher Pui Wing was the first to go through to the final after accounting for Feng Yi Di in the semifinals, 7-6(4), 7-5.

The men's singles quarterfinal line-up is finally set after the most wildly contested gunslinger of a battle between Goran Bosalevski and Jason Lijewski ended late last night in favour of the No. 3 seed, 7-5, 3-6, 7-6(2). In the ladies' draw, Feng Yi Di, Sher Pui Wing and Wu Ho Ching have booked themselves a place in the semifinals, with the remaining quarterfinal between No. 1 seed Tong Ka Po and Shene Pui Yee still to come.
