Earlier last month, Hong Kong was represented by Andrew Town and Roland Liu at the Italia Cup – the premier team competition for Men's 35 or over. The event took place at the Club Ali Bey, Turkey, with the annual ITF Seniors World Individual Championships being held the week after. After beating Ireland in the playoffs, the HK team placed 19th overall.

Just as she did 12 months ago, sophomore Venise Chan wrapped up the Fall season by taking both Flight A singles and doubles, this time at the San Diego State University Fall Classic II over the weekend at the Aztec Tennis Center when she beat teammate Denise Dy in the singles final, 6-2, 6-2.

Although she was upset by 10th-seeded Jennifer Heinser (San Francisco) in the last sixteen of the women's singles, Venise Chan and Denise Dy (Washington) have teamed up to beat No. 5 seeds Alexandra Poorta and Claire Soper (St. Mary's) to reach the quarterfinals of the women's doubles at the 2008 Wilson/ITA Northwest Regional Championship.

NCAA No. 28 Venise Chan, seeded seventh, heads to the Taube Family Tennis Stadium in Palo Alto this weekend, as Stanford University serves as host for the 2008 Wilson/Northwest Regional Championship scheduled for October 17-20. Top 10 players, 4th-ranked Hilary Barte (Stanford) and 7th-ranked Marina Cossou (Berkeley), heads the list of seeds for the women's singles.
