One of the highlights of the local tennis calendar - the Hong Kong Pro-Am Tennis Challenge - to be hosted by the Hong Kong Tennis Foundation (HKTF) and supported by the HKTA, welcomes back Aussie tennis legends Pat Cash, Kim Warwick and, for the first time, Allan Stone. Proceeds from the annual fundraiser will go entirely to the development of junior tennis in the territory.
The Pro-Am kicked off yesterday with the official press conference, attended by Mr. Peter Lowe, Chairman of the HK Pro-Am Tennis Challenge Organising Committee; HKTA President, Mr. Kenneth Tsui; tennis professionals Andrew Ilie and John Hui; and accompanied by several budding local tennis players the likes of young Katherine Ip (pictured below with Pat Cash).
Pat Cash, Kim Warwick, and Allan Stone then took turns to give a series of tennis clinics to the Talent Group players, and several of HKSI's scholarship athletes, such as current Hong Kong No. 1, Yu Hiu Tung, Martin Sayer, Michael Lai, Polly Lam, and Cindy Lee.
The Pro-Am continues over the weekend with round robin and knockout matches for the Tennis Challenge on Saturday, followed by the MINI presented Pat Cash & Friends Tennis Exhibition on Sunday, which features a doubles match involving HK Davis Cupper, John Hui, and a much anticipated singles match-up featuring touring pro and former world No. 38, Andrew Ilie of Australia, up against former Wimbledon men's singles champion, Pat Cash, on Sunday.
It is indeed a rare opportunity to witness a Wimbledon champion, a player the calibre of Pat Cash, in action right here at Victoria Park. So come on down, admission is free!
