The HKTA is to introduce an entry-level Umpires Training Course in an attempt to raise the officiating standard and broaden umpiring opportunities in Hong Kong. The objective of this course is to explain to participants the duties, code of conduct and basic techniques of chair umpiring and line umpiring. ITF rules will be used as the basis for illustration of basic techniques and standard procedures of chair umpires and line umpires. Deadline for applications is 3 September 2003.

Course Outline
Students who successfully complete the course will receive a Certificate of Attendance at the end of the course. Instructors for HKTA umpiring courses are certified as ITF White Badge Officials or above.
This course is primary for new entrants to tennis officiating field and it is assumed that the participants have no previous knowledge or experience in tennis officiating.
However, by the end of the course, participants will be expected to know 1. The fundamentals regarding the rules of tennis and the different categories of tennis officials. 2. Understand and be able to apply basic skills of chair umpiring and line umpiring.
