Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards 2011: Vote before Jan 31!

Organized by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the objectives of the Awards are threefold:

1. To recognize and encourage athletes and teams for their outstanding sports achievements
2. To provide role models and inspiration for local youngsters, thus help to promote sports development in Hong Kong
3. To encourage the community's involvement in sports to further promote a sports culture in Hong Kong

Inaugurated in 2000, the Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards first witnessed tennis amongst its recipients three years later when Brian Hung and Martin Sayer captured the HK Junior Sports Stars and the Potential Sports Stars Awards respectively.

In 2007, Jessica Yang was amongst one of six winners of the HK Junior Sports Stars Award after anchoring the Junior Fed Cup team to a place in the 2006 World Finals.

Past nominations also included Venise Chan in the Junior Sports Stars Award category plus the Junior Fed Cup team of Zhang Ling, Venise Chan, and Jessica Yang in 2005, in addition to Kevin Wong and Brian Yeung in the HK Potential Sports Stars category in 2007.

This year, the SF&OC received some 165 nominations from thirty-nine National Sports Associations competing for the six awards categories. Four of these awards – Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards, Hong Kong Junior Sports Stars Awards, Hong Kong Sports Stars Award for Team Only Sport, and Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards for Team Event - are open for online public voting.

In addition, the athlete who wins the highest votes among the eight winners of the Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards will also be awarded the Centenary Celebration of Bank of China - Best of the Best Hong Kong Sports Star Award.

The results of these awards will be announced in the Awards Presentation Ceremony on February 27, 2012.

The public can visit the Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards Official Website to cast their votes before January 31, 2012.

Each voter is automatically entered into the Lucky Draw.

Eight lucky winners will receive a free spending credit total valued over HK$30,000 for the "BOC CUP Dual Currency Credit Card" sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong) and BOC Credit Card, and fourteen winners will receive Panasonic household appliances with valued over HK$10,000.
