Chairman of the HKTA?s Officiating Committee, Mr. Joelle Ho (front row, third from left), plus HKTA President, Mr. Kenneth Tsui, and Executive Director, Mr. Peter Hung, met with several of the SAR?s senior tennis officials ? Horace Wong, K.K. Yuen, Lo Hing Kuen, and Lo Wai Chik ? in the past week to establish a constructive dialogue with regards to the development of a blueprint for the deployment and upgrading of the overall standard of tennis umpires in the territory.

The Officiating Committee has extended an invitation to all four senior officials to join the Committee to work together to come up with a master plan dealing with issues such as the grading, training, deployment, and pay structure pertaining to all local umpires.

Such positive steps should ultimately equate to a better benchmark for officiating in local tournaments, thus leading to an improved spectacle and level of play.
