At the GB1 Asian Closed Jr Tennis Championships in India, No. 3 seed Jessica Yang (ITF 37) was trailing by a set and 3-5, 0-40 down in the second before she fought off all three match points to register a 2-6, 7-5, 6-4, victory over No. 8 seed Alexandra Kolesnichenko (ITF 87) of Uzbekistan to progress to the semifinals.

Although it would be easy to assume a somewhat deflated Kolesnichenko in the third, according to eye witness accounts, however, it was a dog fight till the very end.

The Hong Kong junior number one will next face No. 14 seed Miyabi Inoue (ITF 97) of Japan for a place in the final.

The other side of the girls' draw features an all-Thai affair, with top-seeded world No. 4 Noppawan Lertcheewakarn taking on No. 10 seed Sophie Mulsap (ITF 122).

Elsewhere, in the boys' singles, Dino Dell'Orto, seeded 14th, was a win away from a quarterfinal berth when he ran into a no-nonsense Kittiphong Wachiramanowong, as the second-seeded world No. 27 from Thailand advanced with a straight sets victory, 6-2, 6-2, at the expense of the Hong Kong junior number one.

In the boys' doubles, the eighth-seeded HK-Indian duo of Dino Dell'Orto and Vikram Reddy was denied a place in the semifinals when they lost to No. 4 seeds Sudanwa Siraram and Wakash Wagh, 7-6(6), 6-2, in the quarterfinals.

In the girls' doubles, No. 4 seeds Jessica Yang and Khunpak Issara were leading Celina Goetti and Jessica Agra by a set when the HK-Thai combo retired.
