In view of safeguarding the interests of the tennis public, classifying the ability levels of qualified coaches, and implementing the continuous professional development program for coaches in the territory, the Hong Kong Tennis Association has held a coaches' meeting on 14 December 2002 to introduce the HKTA Coaches Licensing Scheme.
Speaking at the gathering were HKTA President, Mr. Kenneth Tsui; HKTA Hon. Secretary and EQC Member, Mr. Kenneth Ng; Chairman of the now defunct Coaches Section, Mr. Benedict Lee; and HKTA Executive Director, Mr. Peter Hung.
The key benefits of the scheme are providing opportunities to coaches to upgrade their qualifications and educate the public of the importance and merits of hiring licensed coaches. The scheme comprises four levels: HKTA Mini-Tennis License, HKTA Coaches License 1, HKTA Coaches License 2, and HKTA Coaches License 3.
The expected launch date for the scheme is March 2003. |
