Number one seed Wayne Wong won the final ten games against No. 2 seed Andrew Town to lift the men's singles title, while former WTA No. 850, He Chun-Yan, defeated Guangdong native Maggie Deng, 7-6(2), 4-6, 6-0, to win the ladies' crown at the SCAA Open 2006 on Sunday.

Appearing in his first SCAA Open Men's Singles Final against second seed Andrew Town, a former two-time winner at King's Park, Wayne Wong fell behind by an early break to trail 4-2 before he went on a ten-game rampage to strong-arm the final from the Aussie in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0.

Currently lying third behind Mark Bailey and Colin Grant on the all-time Hong Kong Davis Cup singles win list, Wayne will be seeking back-to-back local majors when he tees off at the CRC Open 2006, due to commence later this month.

The last time a player (men's) won consecutive local majors in a calendar season was 1997, when Australian Shane Barr won the Triple Crown that year, i.e. the HK National, SCAA Open, and CRC Open.

Former local resident Michael Brown did win the HK National and CRC Open in 2002, but the SCAA Open was not held that year due to court reconstruction work.

In the Ladies' Singles Final, former WTA No. 850, He Chun-Yan, defeated fellow Mainlander, Maggie Deng, 7-6(2), 4-6, 6-0.

The twenty-four year-old Deng, a Guangdong native, reached a career-high of No. 813 back in August 2001.

In the Men's Doubles Final, No. 4 seeds Goran Bosalevski & Jason Lijewski beat third seeds Andrew Town and Adrian Montesinos, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3, to lift the title. Earlier in the semifinals, Bosalevski & Lijewski had taken out the top-seeded pairing of Wayne Wong & Jason Sankey, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.
