Final day of the HK Open Junior Championships 2008 saw No. 4 seed Levente Godry of Hungary (ITF 599) become the sixth player since 1993 to capture both the boys' singles and doubles titles simultaneously.

Second-seeded Jarryd Botha of South Africa (ITF 398) and 4th-seeded Levente Godry of Hungary (ITF 599) both registered straight-set wins in the semifinals earlier today at the HK Open Junior Championships 2008 to set up a meeting in the boys' singles final on Saturday.

World junior circuit debutante Katherine Ip extended her Cinderella run by beating No. 5 seed Benyapa Phumtip of Thailand, 6-2, 6-2, today at the HK Open Junior Championships 2008 to join compatriot Sher Pui Wing in the girls' semis.

Local girls Katherine Ip, Wu Ho Ching, Sher Pui Wing, and Lorraine Cheung sent No. 4 seed Jang Yi-Bei, No. 8 Tsao Fang-Chi, No. 6 Vaniya Dangwal, and No. 2 Wang Danni tumbling out of the HK Open Junior Championships 2008 in the second round respectively.

Third seed Justin To (ITF 425) is the first local entry to progress through to the third round of the boys' singles after disposing Taiwan's Mao Jui in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6(3). Top seed Jiri Veseley (CZE) and No. 2 Jarryd Botha (RSA) also advanced on Day 1 of the ITF Grade 4 Hong Kong Open Junior Championships 2008 at Victoria Park.

Junior world No. 163 Dino Dell'Orto will be the territory's lone representative at this year's prestigious Osaka Mayor's Cup, the only Grade A event held within the confines of Asia.  He has been drawn to face the tournament's No. 1 seed, India's Yuki Bhambri (ITF 18), in the opening round.

The ITF Grade 4 Hong Kong Open Junior Championships 2008 begins tomorrow (Monday, Oct 6) at Victoria Park Tennis Courts.   Hong Kong's Justin To (ITF 425) is seeded third in the boys' singles and he will face Chinese Taipei's Mao Jui (ITF 1860) first up in a round two match tomorrow, as both players have received a bye in the opening round.

With the qualies now out of the way, opening round matches for the SCAA Open 2008 Men's and Ladies' Open Singles are now set to begin on Saturday, October 11. The No. 1 seed for both events will be in action, with Michael Lai taking on Enrico Abadia, while Feng Yidi is to go up against two-time reigning HK Nationals G18U champion, Wu Ho Ching.

Seeded 5th for the women's singles qualifying, 28th-ranked Venise Chan beat 47th-ranked Nina Munch-Soeggard (TCU), 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, to open her account at the 2008 Riviera/ITA All-American Women's Tennis Championships, but then fell to 109th-ranked pre-qualifier, Bianca Eichkorn (Miami), in the ensuing round, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, later on the same day.
