After defeating Malaysia, 2-1, earlier on Friday at the World Junior Tennis Asia/Oceania Qualifying in Shenzhen, the sixth-seeded Hong Kong team of Kevin Wong, Kelvin Lam, and Vincent Yau is to face-off with Chinese Taipei in the 5th – 6th Place Playoff at the East Lake Tennis Club today. In a replica of opening day's dominant display at the World Junior Tennis Asia/Oceania Qualifying in Shenzhen, the sixth-seeded HK team of Kevin Wong, Kelvin Lam, and Vincent Yau blanked New Zealand 3-0 earlier yesterday to go joint-top in Group 2 together with No. 3 seed China. The territory will next face-off with China to determine final positions for qualification to the knockout stage.

The sixth-seeded Hong Kong WJT Boys' contingent of Kelvin Lam, Kevin Wong, and Vincent Yau thoroughly dominated the Philippines 3-0 on opening day of the 2008 World Jr Tennis Asia/Oceania Qualifying event held this year at the East Lake Tennis Club in Shenzhen. After opening day's action in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Asia/Oceania Zone Group II Relegation Playoff held at the Chinese Recreation Club, Hong Kong and Lebanon are deadlocked at 1-1 following the opening singles, thus guaranteeing a grandstand finish this weekend with everything still to play for. First off, Yu Hiu Tung gave the home side a 1-0 lead by beating Jicham Zaatini, 7-6(2), 7-6(2), 6-7(1), 6-0, but Lebanese No. 1 Karim Alayly managed to beat Michael Lai, 6-2, 6-2, 3-6, 3-6, 9-7, to pull his team back on level terms.
