By Hazel Yuen @ 5:47 PM :: 520 Views :: 0 Comments ::

This year’s Mini-Tennis Scheme commenced in October 2013 to coincide with the start of the academic year. A number of school visits and on-site demos were conducted, followed by training courses for primary school teachers so that they could acquire the proper skill set to organize mini-tennis in their respective schools.

After approximately six months of training, an Inter-school District Competition was held and culminated in an Annual Championships where the best players from each school took part.

The 2013/2014 Scheme came to an end earlier this week. Two outstanding players immerged from the Scheme this year, Wong Clayton Dik Sum (黃迪深) of the Po Leung Kuk Camoes Tan Siu Lin Primary School and Shek Cheuk Ying (石卓盈) of the C&MA Sun Kei Primary School, not only have they won the respective Boy’s and Girl’s 9 & Under singles titles, they have also captured the Outstanding Player Awards in the Annual Championships.

In the School Grand Champion Awards, SKH Mung Yan Primary School and C&MA Sun Kei Primary won the Boy’s and Girl’s group awards respectively. SKH Mung Yan Primary School has also been awarded the Best Team Spirit Awards.

The Mini-Tennis Scheme continues to be a vital opponent of HKTA’s junior development structure with the goal to broaden the player base of tennis, and in time, today’s mini-tennis player may become tomorrow’s tennis masters.
